Movement Overview
Inspired by the spirit of Thomas Paine’s 1776 pamphlet, Common Sense, the movement calls for a Citizens Constitutional Convention (CCC) in which Americans can propose and debate reforms designed to improve our federal government.

About Thomas Paine
In 1776, Thomas Paine authored Common Sense, the most influential political pamphlet in American history. His writing inspired the American colonies to pursue independence and encouraged ordinary citizens to participate in shaping their government.
About Thomas Payne
Thomas Payne is the modern author of the Common Sense Letters, a series of letters to the American people calling for a Citizens Constitutional Convention and greater citizen participation in government. He argues that constructive reform is possible when citizens engage directly in the democratic process.
